Judge Olu A. Stevens is the presiding Judge in the 30th Judicial Circuit, Division 6. Immediately before assuming the bench, Judge Stevens was a Member with the firm Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to his work at Stoll Keenon Ogden, Judge Stevens spent ten years in private practice, during which he also served three years as a prosecutor with the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office. He received his B.A. from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and his J.D. from George Washington Law School in Washington, D.C. Judge Stevens is a Past President of the Louisville Bar Association (2006), Past President of the Louisville Bar Foundation (2002) and is an original and current member of the Chief Justice’s Commission on Racial Fairness. In 2007, he was appointed to KBA CLE Commission by the Kentucky Supreme Court and served in that role until Governor Steven Beshear appointed Judge Stevens to the bench on July 1, 2009.


He has received numerous awards including Business First Forty under 40 in 1999 and the first-ever Brandeis School of Law Dean’s Service Award. Judge Stevens is an adopted alumnus of the University of Louisville and in 2003, Louisville Magazine recognized him as one of 25 future leaders to watch. In 2005, Louisville Magazine recognized Judge Stevens as one of the top trial lawyers under the age of forty. In 2009, Louisville Magazine again recognized Judge Stevens as one of the top lawyers in Louisville. Judge Stevens has also gained national recognition for his work, receiving the American Bar Association General Practice Link Bar Leader of the Year Award in 2001. He is the only Kentucky lawyer to receive the award. For his work in the area of continuing legal education, he received the prestigious Kentucky Bar Association Thomas B. Spain Award in 2004.


Judge Stevens has lectured on ethics, professionalism and various areas of legal practice. He has also served as a speaker at various community and civic events.


During his legal practice, Judge Stevens earned Martindale Hubbell’s highest AV rating for quality of practice and ethics.
